With nearly ten years' experience in games design and script writing, I understand that providing a simple collection of cut scenes is not enough for many titles, and that a more integrated script is often required. I provide a complete specification for the game script, taking into account both narrative elements, non-narrative interactions between in-game characters, and collections of random "barks".
Producing a coherent script design that takes into account all elements of the game will improve the player's experience by:
The specification can be used to determine the total quantity of speech required for a title and the budget for writing and voice recording. Alternatively, the specification can be written within existing constraints to provide the best distribution of effort when it comes to creating the script so that the maximum impact is gained for the finished product.
I am able to work from written design to anticipate the requirements of the game, and from playable builds to evaluate where dialogue could improve the gameplay experience.
My experience working with procedural dialogue systems means I have a particular speciality in designing for and writing reactive game speech, suitable for sport commentary, natural language player judging, and in-game banter.
