After all the excitement of the big final, I totally forgot to post the results. After two sell out shows, Boarders lost out on Sitcom Trials glory to the ever consistant "From Riga to Rotherham" in the final judgement. But, as ever, it was a wonderful experience, and to be in the top-five for a competition that boasted over 500 entries, is a reward in itself, not forgetting the considerable exposure that the script gained as the result of its place in the final.
Well I never. Last night "Boarders" was runner up in the Sitcom Trials semi-final, second to "From Riga to Rotherham". Both shows will join the winners of next week's semi-final and the "wildcard" audience favourite in the grand final on the 13th May, in front of a specially invited industry audience.
Which is all smashing news. Tickets here
For anyone who is interested in seeing "Boarders" in the latest round of The Sitcom Trials, it's on Wednesday 29th April at 7pm, tickets are available now from the Leicester Square Theatre.
Boarders is up against "From Riga to Rotherham", "Canteen Culture", and our old nemesis from the first round, the rather excellent "Trainspotting".
Whilst you're there you can check out Stop Messing About, which stars Robin Sebastian as Kenneth Williams, and our wonderful director, Charles Armstrong, as Hugh Paddick.
HI! I've updated my web site to include information about my comedy writing exploits, rather than clutter up my professional games writing and design area with news of sitcoms and the like. Because it's a sideline, it won't get the same level of coverage, but will at least be a place for this information to go.
James Parker is a Bristol based writer on the cusp of 30 who has written and produced four plays, and is a professional freelance writer of Video Game scripts, which is somewhat at odds with what the careers test suggested.
